Why Choose Wormsmart?
How it works
Wastewater enters the system
All greywater and blackwater from your property is plumbed into the tank through one wastewater pipe. There's no need to separate them (unlike other systems). The worms even love food scraps from your kitchen insinkerator!
Nature does its thing
The worms then break down all of your waste and turn it into an organic humus. As the aerobic bacteria feed on this humus, they further cleanse and treat the wastewater as it filters through the tank.
Then it's gravity's turn
From the bottom of the tank, a gravity pipe runs to a small flout tank, which is a natural dosing system. From the dosing flout, a single pipe carries the water to the drainage field. If your property is on a level site and we need to give gravity a hand, we simply install a small electric pump and you won't need the dosing tank. Our lightweight pumps use very little power.
Your water is recycled
The water that leaves the system is colourless, odourless and nutrient-rich. It also contains smaller worm eggs and castings, which helps aerate your soil and fertilise your gardens. Your irrigation field can be buried out of sight, or mounted on the surface if more practical (e.g. in the bush amongst tree roots).
